To approach infinity is to contact and explore one's own greatness. To know that the great masters have already been there is encouraging on such a lonely road: but to be forced to study them as a necessary route is a misleading detour. Each had to forsake the status quo of their day and step out on the lonely road and build their own certainties by trial and error. The importance of understanding self is universally acknowledged but the process is not taught in universities. The onslaught of cynicism, the sweet covert smiles of the battered down failures await any that dare raise his head from their flattened camp. But go the road you must, if you are to get anywhere at all. |
